The 100m x 50m (plan), three slab levels structure was a flat slab concrete frame supported on piles with a steel framed plantroom at roof level. The entrance and service area slabs were raised 1.5m above ground level to mitigate against possible flooding of the site.
Vibration analysis of the flat slab was required to show compliance with HTM2045 vibration limits for the five operating rooms and to meet the requirements for the MRI scanner installation.
We worked on this, the UK’s largest independent NHS treatment centre providing day operations, with Architects One20 and service engineers Troup Bywaters and Anders.
