We are committed to providing you with comprehensive support to attain a Level 6 qualification (BEng Hons Degree in Civil Engineering), typically on a day release basis, paving the way for a successful and fulfilling career.
Apprenticeship Programme: Duration, Cost, and Qualifications
As an apprentice, you will be enrolled in the Civil Engineer course. This academic journey spans over five years, with all costs covered by Tony Gee & Partners through the Apprenticeship Levy.

Qualifications to be awarded
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded:
- Level 6 Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship
- BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, following successful passing of the End Point Assessment
Progression Opportunities
Completing the apprenticeship will satisfy the requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer by the Institution of Civil Engineers, in accordance with the requirements of the Engineering Council as the registration body. Potential onward career progression within Civil Engineering could include continuing work as a Civil Engineer or pursuing a Masters Degree and gaining the necessary experience to apply to become a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
Apprenticeship Course Delivery
Tony Gee & Partners is proud to collaborate with a renowned South West training provider to deliver this apprenticeship. As an apprentice, you will typically spend four days a week honing your skills on the job and dedicate one day a week to academic study at a University. Your learning will be enriched through a blend of lectures, laboratory work, tutorials, workshops, practical sessions, and online activities, supplemented by your own research using library and web resources. Upon earning your degree, you will undertake an End Point Assessment to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you have acquired during the apprenticeship.

Join our team of Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineers
As our new Civil Engineer Apprentice, you will become an integral part of a rapidly expanding, dynamic team in our Stonehouse office. You will collaborate with a team of experts who respect each other and work towards a shared goal. You will receive on-the-job training and mentorship from our team of seasoned, industry-leading professionals.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our experienced Engineers and Project Managers to deliver effective designs for our Civil Engineering design projects.
- Manage and produce design information, 3D models, visualisations, drawings, and schedules that bring our award-winning designs to life under the guidance of the discipline manager.
- Learn to use an extensive suite of cutting-edge CAD applications and continually strive to enhance your proficiency.
- Work alongside the rest of the Civil Engineering team, and teams of all disciplines nationally and internationally across Tony Gee & Partners to deliver our projects
- Promote the Tony Gee brand, its core values, and our strategy as The Partner for Sustainable Change.
- Uphold and promote policies relating to health and safety, quality, and the Environment.

For this role, we believe your starting point should be:
- Possession of at least three A levels at Grades C and above, including Mathematics and Physical Science (or equivalent). Other routes are possible subject to confirmation with the University in accordance with their entry requirements.
- A keen interest in the Built Environment.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong technology skills.
- CAD knowledge and/or experience is desirable but not essential.

The Tony Gee Stonehouse office is proud to be involved in some of the most prestigious projects across the South West and nationally, we have recently supported the design of the Grade 1 listed Barmouth Rail crossing. Input included the detailed design and modelling of the new bridge and working with contractors to agree how the design could be built. Other major projects include the upgrade of the A417 across Gloucestershire, which is a £400+ million upgrade to the primary road network.
