The extension for the Westports Berth Container Terminal 7 provides the port the capability to handle 18,000 TEU class vessels and takes the overall length of the berth to a total of 4,600 meters.
Tony Gee was commissioned by the HSS as the lead consultants responsible for the detailed design of the berth extension which consisted of the design for the precast spun concrete piles support beams, the fender panels as well as the design and analysis of the mooring elements. The berth was designed to accommodate 65t twin boom Portainer cranes and 50t wheel loads from mobile cranes.
The design was later adopted for the 300m Berth CT6 which was completed in March 2013. Phase 1 of CT7 was completed in December 2013 and Phase 2 in September 2014. A close working relationship between Tony Gee and members of HSS Consultants to ensure that the project programme and cost targets were met.
