Tony Gee was appointed to technical advisor for the Tidal Barrier scheme as part of Lowestoft Flood by East Suffolk Council designed to tackle the effects of flooding from tidal waves, such as in 2013 where over 160 homes and businesses were severely affected, along with road and rail networks.

Tony Gee was appointed technical advisor to East Suffolk Council for the tidal barrier, which was planned to be built as part of Lowestoft Flood Protection. Marine engineering consultancy and design services were provided, including detailed design, constructability, value engineering, concept/outline design review and independent checking of the design and build project.

A part of the scheme consisted of identifying any constraints and opportunities to see if the overall development cost estimate could be reduced to bring the scheme back into a favourable benefit to cost ratio.
