Tony Gee Triumphs at Annual Awards Ceremony, Winning Prestigious Awards For People and Projects

On May 1st Tony Gee's Birmingham office celebrated numerous awards and commendations at the Institution of Civil Engineers West Midlands Annual Awards Dinner, at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to civil engineering within the West Midlands over the last 35 years, Andrew Kenchington was awarded the Bob Dunn Award.

Andrew said: “I am very proud and honoured to receive the Bob Dunn award as my career with Tony Gee draws to a close this year. I have been privileged to have been involved with so many interesting engineering challenges – Selly Oak and Rugeley bridge slides stand out in the Midlands but so many more just kept coming at Tony Gee!
Despite the recent cycling injuries (!) it was a hugely enjoyable evening, celebrating alongside many Tony Gee colleagues to reflect upon our engineering achievements and future exciting projects.”

From long standing experience to up and coming talent in the industry, Ben Merchant-Smith was awarded the Rising Star award.

Ben said: ‘I was just happy to have been recognised by being nominated, so to win is fantastic. Many thanks to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today’.

Alongside these fantastic individual awards, Delta Junction, which we have worked on as part of the Midland Metro Alliance was Highly Commended in both the Large Project and Innovation and Technical Excellence categories.
