CAREERS BLOG

Graduates, students and school leavers, here’s insight into what to expect from your career at Tony Gee

If you’re considering a career in engineering – whether you’re a student or a graduate – your rewarding career with us could start earlier than you thought

Tony Gee and Partners are civil, structural and geotechnical design engineers providing specialist technical services to the worldwide construction industry. Always striving for innovation, we pride ourselves on the satisfaction of our clients…which starts with nurturing some of the greatest young minds. We have over 500 staff working with us worldwide, of whom around 50 are civil engineering students from a variety of universities and apprenticeship schemes.

Our students slot seamlessly into our teams

Our students slot seamlessly into our teams and work alongside staff of all levels, developing impressive technical and business skills along the way. Apprentices split time between live projects and studying at college one day a week. As part of the Technician Apprenticeship Consortium (TAC), we’ve helped develop a framework of learning for those of you keen to immerse yourself in a fulfilling and lucrative engineering career, without going to university.

All sponsored students take up work placements during the summer. Whichever team you join, there’ll always be another student working close by, encouraging companionship and confidence. Each year, a week away from the office is set aside for a number of learning activities that enhance the understanding of the wider world of construction. It’s a great opportunity to network with other students – your future colleagues!

If you’ve already graduated, Tony Gee will sponsor you through all your industry qualifications right the way to chartership. From day one you’ll be encouraged to spend time with every layer of management here, supporting our ethos that no idea is ever too small.

Every member of the design team is hands-on. Depending on your location, you’ll get the chance to work in Rail, Highways, Power, Structures, Geotechnics or Marine. This experience will prove invaluable to your development as a civil engineer and will set you firmly on the ladder to professional accreditation.

It’s not all work though.

Our family culture extends beyond the office and construction sites…there are regular socials including trips to venues like the Comedy Store, go-karting, five-a-side football tournaments and fund-raising events for our chosen charity, RedR.

At Tony Gee and Partners, we seek diversity of thought. Our people are the key to our success so far. If you can imagine yourself working on some of the world’s most iconic structures, a career with us is calling. We look forward to investing in you, so that you can invest in a brilliant future with us.
