Transport Scotland outlined plans to improve a 0.5km stretch of the A82 road with a new offline 168m long – six span viaduct running parallel to Loch Lomond shoreline, followed by a section of online widening with a cutting into the existing rock headland.
The design and build solution adopted offered a road remaining open to traffic during the day for the majority of construction period. Tony Gee was appointed to deliver the challenging detailed design for the new viaduct including associated highway and earthworks.
The successful design and construction of the A82 road improvements at Pulpit rock was a significant achievement which overcame extreme site-specific constraints.
