Civil, structural and geotechnical design for a new 27 wind turbine generator

Tony Gee was appointed as Engineering Consultant for the scheme which comprises of 27 wind turbine generators on the site, which have a maximum capacity of up to 2.75MW.
Tony Gee, appointed by Farrans as Engineering Consultant for the scheme, provided a wide scope of civil, structural and geotechnical design services which included the following:
- Onsite access tracks (11km)
- Public road improvements from New Cumnock to the site boundary
- 27 No. WTG hard standing and associated turning heads earthworks design
- Structural and architectural works (including surface water drainage, below ground foul water drainage, compound earthworks and layout) for 1No. Substation and 1No. metering building
- 3No. box culvert designs on the spine road of Afton road into the site
- Site formation inspections and pre-pour inspections
Tony Gee was also responsible for providing geotechnical support, GI scoping and site inspections for crane hard standings and infrastructure.
Working with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that all risks to the existing 16″ and 18″ water mains were mitigated, we ensured all design proposals complied with Scottish Water’s Distribution Operation & Maintenance Strategy (DOMS) which contributed to this scheme being delivered on time.
